FIL-A-GEHR PPA® and FIL-A-GEHR PA12®: Two New Materials in our Product Range

We have expanded our extruded plastic semi-finished products portfolio and added with FIL-A-GEHR PPA® und FIL-A-GEHR PA12® two new technical materials within the Polyamide-area in our product range. As of now both materials are available with a diameter of 1,75 mm and 2,85 mm in 1kg coils in the colour natural.

FIL-A-GEHR PPA® (Nylon) is a particularly rigid and hard material. Thanks to its high levels of stability and hardness and its high continuous operating temperature, the material is mainly used as replacement for metal and carbon fibre filled PLA, e.g. in the engine compartment or fittings for water pipes. Different from carbon fibre filled materials, the print nozzles do not wear; the stiff material is therefore particularly suited for 3D printing with another benefit being the extremely low material distortion in 3D printing.

Compared to other polyamides, FIL-A-GEHR PA12® (nylon) has a low moisture absorption which is beneficial for failure-free 3D printing. The excellent chemical resistance, in particular against fuels and antifreeze agents, in combination with the high impact strength of the material, justifies the material’s application e.g. in fuel or coolant pipes in the automotive industry. Its very low susceptibility to distortion combined with very good layer adhesion and low processing temperatures makes FIL-A-GEHR PA12® the ideal material for 3D printing.

New in our Product Range: Polybutylene Terephthalate Material Available as of Now

We have added semi-finished products made of PBT to our product range. Thanks to its exceptional mechanical properties, the material is highly versatile and meets the ever increasing requirements to thermoplastic semi-finished products.

Polybutyleneterephthalate is hard, rigid, stable and extremely tough. The material’s extremely high toughness – we have run tests in our laboratory at temperatures up to as low as -60 °C – allows the use of self-cutting screws or inserts. The good antifrictional properties and the high dimensional stability also open up a wide range of possible applications. Very good results can be achieved in joining processes with two-component adhesives on the basis of e.g. epoxy resins or cyanoacrylates as well as silicones. The painting of the parts is possible. The metallizing of the component surface in high vacuum is feasible too. Thanks to the good UV- and weather resistance, the material can also be used for outdoor applications. The continuous operating temperature ranges between approximately +100 °C and -60 °C. GEHR PBT® can thus be used to produce components such as pump bodies, casings, tank caps, gear-wheels, insulating parts in electrical engineering and applications with UV exposure which have to meet specific requirements. We have expanded our extruded plastic semi-finished products portfolio. As of now we offer plastic filaments for professional 3D printing under the brand name FIL-A-GEHR®.

The low-emission and low-odor filaments are produced in Mannheim from high-quality raw materials with closest tolerances (+/- 0.05 mm) and are compatible with all standard 3D printers. As of now, FIL-A-GEHR® ABS is available with a diameter of 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm – both in 1 kg coils or 2.3 kg coils – and in many different colors. We will present our filaments for the first time on the Rapid.
FIL-A-GEHR® ABS is a high-quality thermoplastic polymer with excellent mechanical properties: The filaments are voidfree and are characterised by very good layer adhesion, high stability, impact strength and by optimal flow behavior while printing. Furthermore, they are thermostable up to approx. 100 °C and comply with toy safety norm EN71-3. The ABS raw material is certified to comply with both toy safety and food contact regulations.
After-treatment or surface treatment can easily be applied to components made of FIL-A-GEHR® ABS. The components are specifically suitable for
the production of small or mid-sized objects, functional prototypes or parts and thermostable items.

Once again GEHR GmbH has set new standards!

We successfully extruded POM-C round rods with a diameter of 600 mm. As of now, we carry the rods in natural colour in stock. Of course we also offer cut to size.

We have also significantly expanded our sheet programme. Now all of the cast sheets are available in stock also in black as well as GEHR PA 6 C sheets with the thickness 10 mm and 12 mm which are available in natural and black.

We have also expanded the POM-ELS sheets portfolio by offering one additional sheet thickness.

Now we deliver from stock sheets of 15 mm thickness in sizes 610 mm x 1000 mm and 610 mm x 3000 mm.
